Festival Information

Music in Dentdale
You will hear the music ringing out all over Dentdale throughout the weekend, sometimes on the cobbled streets, sometimes on the campsites at night, it’s a wonderful sound in a wonderful place.

Venues
From musician to visitor, you will have a choice of venues to play or hear music throughout Dentdale. From the pubs to the campsites, to the main stage to the cobbled streets of Dent, you will hear the music ring out in the Dale.

The Pubs
Squeeze into the Sun Inn or the George & Dragon in the centre of Dent for real ales, home cooked food and a great atmosphere. The music is spontaneous, occasionally organised, so don’t miss out on many a good time.

Children’s area
A separate area on the festival field will be dedicated to entertaining the children. We will host a number of children’s games over the weekend with a mix of live entertainment as well.

About
Dent started it’s music programme back in 2002, a local idea to regenerate the area after the foot

and mouth outbreak and to bring music to the Dale.  The date was chosen by the local business forum as an ideal weekend between the bank holidays. Musicians have been coming to Dent for many years to enjoy the views, meet friends and enjoy the craic, so The Dent Folk Festival was born out of this initiative and continued to grow year on year until 2008, when it reached bursting point. This is why Dent had a new name for 2009 – Dentdale Music & Beer Festival, as the old committee and the name had moved several miles up the road to a brand new home / venture to accommodate the full growth potential it deserves. Now we're back in 2010 for the same blend of great live music, cask ales and locally sourced and cooked food.

So here’s to a brand new chapter in bringing great music to Dentdale.

Our Honorary Patrons
We are delighted that Lord & Lady Johnson accepted our invitation to become the Honorary Patrons of our event. Gerry & Elaine (as they are liked to be called) have a great deal of interest in music and to all things that are ‘Dent’. They are always involved in raising money for either charity or for a local cause in Dent, so we are very pleased to have them on board. I’m sure you will see them in one of the tents enjoying the music, so say hello when you do!!
